Builders and Owners of Paradox Sailboats

In 2006 I published at my Small Sailboats website a Table of Builders and Owners of Paradox Sailboats.  At that time 29 were known to me. Two owners have since died, i.e., Don Elliott and Steve Yahn, and a few boats have changed hands, ‘Minnow’ being one of them.

Many more Paradoxes must have been built. I know of Lezlie Henson’s ‘Tardis’, bought by Sean Mulligan, who renamed her ‘Scout’, and of Mike Beebe’s Paradox, which I believe has changed hands. Geoff Davis, of Freemantle, built ‘Small Fry’. He has done some adventurous stuff with her, such as rounding Cape Leeuwin and continuing for several days without putting in.  ‘Cachivache’, the most southerly Paradox, was built by Alberto of Rawson, Argentina.

Hundreds of plans have been sold, but nowhere near as many boats would appear to have been built, probably because the costs are high, both in terms of expenditure and of effort. Some potential builders lack facilities and others believe their skill level is not up to the mark; others cannot find the time.

If you dream of owning a Paradox, don’t despair; now’s your chance to get a cheap one which is fully equipped and ready to go, because 'Minnow' is still for sale as at 27th October, 2014. You may contact me at barnacleid at yahoo dot co dot uk or by phone at 07588288060.
